Gael Part 1 00:58
When you speak you speak of things that you know Like diving for pearls and fighting the undertow Your hands have lines the tell of the lives you’ve known And how that you got to the state that you’re in Silence when you're unsure of yourself Another’s words are never heard in your mouth Your hands are worn, your heart is torn That’s how you got to the state that you’re in

I gotta a problem Yo ho Bigger than me Yo ho 70 Million Yo ho in two or three weeks Yo ho Can you believe it, that we’re in this mess No one can blame us, But now I digress We need a self starter good communication A real team player Fill out application The big league consultant makes recommendations Report all our progress And stunning creations I gotta a problem, it’s bigger than me 70 Million, in two or three weeks And I feel the results From the surveys they will really show That we must get some counsel Get some counsel cuz they’re in the know And I feel that the world Is spinning right out of Control Yo ho

Blow off course Little bird What ‘cha doing upon the escarpment Haven’t you heard Soaring high Thermal wind Everything that you ever wanted Let it begin Never once imagined I would find you this way Do you understand a single word that I say I’m not even sure that I am saying it right careful with my words so you don’t take flight We were not expecting any radicals here Your song is so peculiar to my ears Where’d you say you’re going maybe later this year How did you survive to make it up here Take cover my dear, Take cover my dear Blow off course Little bird There’s a fly way cross the escarpment Haven’t you heard

Everybody is going to be alone everybody is looking at their phone all the monkeys sitting in the zoo all the monkeys wonder what to do All the answers are in the big report every measure every last resort everybody is making up a plan everybody is praying for the man We live just where we walk around We’ll go together Tides rise and take us all to town, or take us all down We’ll rise together all the ladies know just want to do Old white fellas taking up the view everybody is going to be alone no solution staring at your phone

I’m halfway to Hepworth This never gets old I’m masked up, I’m gassed up And I’ll do what I’m told But I need a little conversation Because I feel so alone I’m halfway to Hepworth Trying to go home I made it to Arthur Where they sold me a suit I traded a guitar For a daily commute & more than hesitation But now I digress Arthur, Oh Arthur It’s all a big mess Highway Six is closed Everything is froze Keep your eyes o the road And your tongue off the pole Now I’m in Ferndale It’s starting to thaw I still can’t believe All the things that I saw In the white out nearly tapped out It was all I could do Now I’m in Ferndale I’m coming home Coming home to you

Snow Day 03:40
And everyone is tucked right in I don’t know where to begin This gift is rare and precious We are so connected And everything it stands so still Yet my mind’s completely filled Filled with possibilities No responsibilities Why can’t I Tap into this Every single day is bliss Give me just a little kiss Everything’s ground to a halt Missed my work it’s not my fault We’ll pick it up tomorrow But for now I’m going to burrow Right into the heart of a snow day Where everything it stands so still I should be completely chilled Acknowledge the excitement This is no indictment Why must we be so socked in To let these simple feelings in and trust the path will take us in Why can’t I Tap into this Every single day is bliss Give me just a little kiss Why must we Be so socked in To let these simple feelings in To trust the path will take us in

Whistler 04:19
He finally opened up, after ten lost years To the possibility of great big ears He didn’t get a say, or time to prepare The dog showed up that day Now they work as a pair There was nothing to do about it Whistler came whistling in At a time when defenses were down And everybody needed a friend His boy finally opened up, it'd been one tough year She brought him tranquility, and helped with his fear He didn't get a say or time to prepare The dog just showed up that day, now they're making repairs There was nothing to do about it Whistler came whistling in At a time when defenses were down And everybody needed a friend There was nothing to do about it Whistler came whistling in She took us down to the ground Where all the little seeds can tuck in Spirit dogs come into your life They come with big ears and a grin There is nothing to do about it When Whistler comes whistling in

Big Bay 04:38
I dreamed about Jim God knows I let him in His wispy beard his smiling Oki little banjo great big folky I dreamed about peace That comes with growing older When we finally drop our arms When we finally grow our charms Dreamed about George A wetsuit and a vaporizer A cold day in Georgian bay Back stroke along the shore line I dreamed about laws All those that just don't hold For free minded spirit travelers Hover over open road There is a Big band in Big Bay Everybody gets to play Nobody’s toes are stepped on No one gets in the way Sometimes sublime sometimes just average I dreamed about Leroy Tall guy with an easy bake oven So easy and yet so hard grows good things in his backyard I dreamed about truth And the nature of compromises like wide rims and knobby tires outrun a fancy road bike There is a Big band in Big Bay Everybody gets to play Nobody’s toes are stepped on No one gets in the way Sometimes sublime sometimes just average –

We built a lighthouse it got blown in the chuck The wind was crazy Picked the whole thing right up You lose your landmarks And other things you hold dear The water’s rising But there’s nothing to fear The ice keeps melting For things that we say aloud So we keep driving Flying straight for the clouds We count on children who will carry the load We’re aged out mothers whose Whose privilege explodes (implodes) All the young lovers They Try to keep us in line Observe the limits Not everything all the time, But we’re divided And we must weather the storm I am reminded of all the brambles and thorns

When I conjure up pictures of you there were no limits to what we could do There was just freedom, jars without lids We were spilling our contents, we were just teenage kids This was the time to find out what it's like To share in the beauty, share in the mind This was the time to find out what it’s like To share in the spirits, share in the wine We would go flying out on Georgian Bay Never suspect you’d be taken away Walking with the saints in our earliest days Oh what good fortune to have come up with you And now with our children, It comes ‘round again The hell of the parents, The safety of friends We were so lucky, Nine times out of ten Forgiveness forgiveness, forgiveness dear friends We were just teenaged kids, No parents about armed with our senses, we knew how to shout No one predicted, just what came about Said goodbye to the best of what we were about We would go flying out on Georgian Bay Never suspect you’d be taken away Not one iota of the risk or the bid We were spilling our contents, we were just teenaged kids

about

Try It Up Here is Stephen Woeller’s debut album. A seasoned musician, songwriter, and storyteller, Woeller displays his mastery of the craft. Stephen artfully combines the sounds of gospel, folk, and pop with a uniquely Canadian twist. He tells of people navigating increasingly difficult times, and yet finding hope, love and friendship. All of this is set against the backdrop of the place Stephen calls home: the Northern Bruce Peninsula – from the towering limestone cliffs to the smallest of little birds.
